Problem:

Many users hesitate to buy furniture online due to uncertainties about size, fit, and how it would look in their space. Measuring dimensions and visiting physical stores becomes time-consuming and inconvenient, creating a gap in user confidence.

Goal:

To create a feature that simplifies furniture shopping by allowing users to visualize and customize their room with AI-rendered furniture and decor directly from Swadesh’s inventory.

Solution:

Swadesh GPT, an AI-powered feature, was designed to enhance the online furniture shopping experience by offering:

Room Visualization:

Users upload pictures of their room, and AI decorates the space based on selected moods or themes.


Interactive Customization:
Each furniture piece in the AI-rendered room is clickable, customizable, and sourced from Swadesh’s inventory.

Informed Purchases:
Users can add customized furniture to their cart and purchase directly, reducing uncertainty.

Accurate Rendering:
The AI considers exact furniture dimensions to provide a realistic view of how items will fit in the room.

Design Process:

Research & Insights:
- Conducted user interviews to understand hesitation around online furniture shopping.
- Key findings: Users need size accuracy, visualization, and the ability to customize furniture.

Ideation & Prototyping
- Focused on UI-level prototyping to design workflows for uploading room images, selecting themes, and interacting with furniture.
- Created wireframes and high-fidelity UI prototypes to test the usability and visual appeal of the feature.

Reflections:

Swadesh GPT demonstrated the power of AI in bridging the gap between user hesitation and online furniture shopping. The project reinforced the importance of accuracy and customization in building user trust.
